Bear in mind that these figures are only the victim badgers that have been reported to Scottish Badgers. Many badgers are injured by a car and crawl away into the undergrowth to die unseen. The true total of road deaths is therefore likely to be much greater than these figures suggest and may be as high as 5000 per year - roughly one fifth of our population of 25,000 badgers. |
