The Highland Badger Network

Protecting badgers in the Scottish Highlands

---------------------

badger road victims

More than 2000 badgers are killed on the road each year in Scotland

To report a dead badger note the date, road number and, if possible, the map reference or a landmark.

Then click here to complete our road accident report form

or phone the details to Scottish Badgers at :- 01356 624851

The table below shows some of the tragic details in the year 2003.  Bear in mind that these figures are only the victim badgers that have been reported to Scottish Badgers.  Many badgers are injured by a car and crawl away into the undergrowth to die unseen.  The true total of road deaths is therefore likely to be much greater than these figures suggest and may be as high as 5000 per year - roughly one fifth of our population of 25,000 badgers.
